Awakening is understanding we have a voice  in our mind that is the ego. Our ego has an endless stream of opinions,  ‘truths’ and beliefs about who we are  and who other people are. The ego is our protector,  keeping us in the familiar cycles we grew up in. When we become more aware of the ego,  we can understand we are not our thoughts.  We aren’t our opinions.  We aren’t our past.  We aren’t our endless stream of identities.
